Kirra Beach Playground – the one with a view of the world famous beach!
Heading north from Coolangatta around Marine Parade towards Kirra, you’ll come across one of the world’s most well-known beaches, famous for happy, consistent, rolling waves that surfers adore. There’s a bike/scooter path that runs along the Kirra foreshore from Coolie to Tugun shops, and about midway along, opposite Douglas Street, you’ll find THE playground we’re talking about – Kirra Beach Playground, the one with the view. Play here long enough and you’re bound to see a surfie star meander by too. It’s the playground that keeps on giving.
Climbing to the top of the A-line maze mountain is the biggest challenge here. Can you make it all the way to the top? But for the more laid-back types like my guy, this swaying swing is just the place to kick back out of reach of your little brother.
There’s a fort with a twin slippery slide (to spark yet another sibling competition), rubber mounds to leapfrog, an ingenious mini-seesaw, spinning flower cup seats, and saving the best for last, a moulded plastic modern round-about with bucket seats just perfect to fit little “peachy bums” while it whizzes.
We couldn’t finish up without showing you just how much fun this place really is! SUPER DOOPER fun to tease little brothers who can’t get out quick enough.
PS: If you are driving from the Coolie esplanade towards Kirra, there is a carpark just 100 metres beyond this park on the beachfront. A clean toilet block too. Family travel priorities, right?
PS: Do let us know when you spot Mick, Joel, Kelly, Steph or Bede walking by the Kirra Beach Playground too!
